Ear Tubes

Grayson had to get tubes in his ears two weeks ago.  I couldn't make up my mind if I wanted him to get them because I didn't want to have him put under.  I know it is a routine surgery but with Gabe not able to be there and no family or friends that could either I was scared.  If you ask my husband he will tell you I worry a lot about things I shouldn't worry about and I am a pessimist.  (I'm trying to work on both of those)

Needless to say when Grayson put the gown on I couldn't stop laughing because he was so cute and, if he hadn't of had a diaper on he would have mooned me.  It was just too funny!  I couldn't get a pic of his backside because I had to hold his had when he walked.  Those hospital floors were too slippery and we had lots of falls.

I wish I had had this surgery before now!  I swear his vocabulary doubled over the weekend.  One doctor told me his speech was being affected by his ears but another one told me it wasn't so I didn't realize it really was.  He has been talking and he knows lots of words but know he talks all the time!  When we were reading a book tonight before bed he stated saying some of the words after I did.  I was one proud and happy Momma.  Lots of high-fiving going on.

The one thing that did get me was when they took him from me he started really crying.  The anesthesiologist had told me that that was good because he would take in big gulps of the gas and go right out.  I assume he did because the surgery only took about 15 minutes.  By the time I walked back into the waiting area, wrote a letter and read five pages of my book the nurse came and got me.  We waited over an hour before his surgery!  Seems like the surgery should have taken longer.

He was not a happy camper when he woke up.  That was a side effect from the anesthesia.  The nurse gave him to me and I had to blow oxygen in his mouth so he could have fresh air and wake up all the way.  He calmed down after about five minutes.

He was such a big boy.  The only time he really cried was when I gave him to the doc to take back to surgery.  The few short I'm not happy cries when hunger cries because I couldn't give him anything to eat before the surgery.  Once he got some water and crackers after the surgery he was just fine.  There were parts of the day where he was fussy but overall it wasn't bad.

I really liked the doctors and nurses at the hospital too.  They answered all my questions and calmed me down.  Even though I had a good experience I don't ever want him to have surgery again.

All he needed was food!
It's now bedtime for me.  I hope y'all have a good week and weekend.
